Incorporating healthy habits into your child's daily life is essential for boosting their immunity. Encourage regular physical activity, such as playing outdoors or participating in sports, to keep their bodies strong. Ensure they get enough sleep each night, as sleep plays a crucial role in immune function. Teach them proper hygiene practices, like washing hands regularly, to prevent the spread of germs.
How to encourage movement and practice good sleep hygiene ?
- Go for a weekend family walk in the bush or get kids to use their bikes or balance bikes
- Get kids to participate in sports
- Outings to a local park
- No devices at least 1-2 hours before bed. This includes TV
- Deep breathing exercises before bed
- Dim lighting around the house at night
One thing I make sure I do with my kids is reducing their exposure to blue light at night! No devices 1-2 hours before bed. if there is a need for a device you could purchase some kids bluelight blocking glasses. Personally, I just restrict devices at night time. Bed time is around 7, so it works out perfectly. For myself, most of my work is done when the kids are in bed! So blue light blocking glasses it is.
The brand of blue blocking glasses that I use are from Block Blue Light. We have also purchased a few of there non-emitting light bulbs and have these around the house at night. You don't have to do this thought, you can just simply dim the lights after the sun goes down + wear blue light blockers.
